about

Tragedemic is a song about the epidemic tragedies the under-privileged face. The ugly unfortunate cycles that keep happening again and again. This song was written and recorded in the year 2009.

The lyrics "I pray I see the day they take all your guns away" is about disarming police, being tired of people (especially those of color) being senselessly killed. It can't keep happening. That verse was personal, about someone I knew who had been killed by the police as an early adult. He was just exploring life (on mushrooms), making mistakes as we all do at that age. Okay, most, some (or whatever), not ALL of us explore psychedelics in early adulthood. The point is, as I type this, it has been 11 years and police brutality is still relevant as ever. WHY?

The other two verses are about a D-boy who died far too young living that fast life because this was an option he could grasp from his environment and influences. The other about a hoe who was fresh outta options born beautiful into poverty and objectified so much she was desensitized to being sexualized and embraced it for her benefit.

These tragedies are of epidemic proportions, the vicious cycle continues, until one overcomes. They can be overcome. Recognize your trauma, so it won't be your drama. Girl, I should trademark that. That was off the top, just sayin'. Thanks for listening, and telling friends how much you like it, and for playing it for your friends. Most of all, thank you for feelin it and if you don't why are you still reading hater?!

lyrics

A young man, just tryna do the right thing
got caught up, in this little night thing
just his luck, life would end before 19
and he was bad, but the world is frightening

As a child, her light lightning, before she knew what was up/what
babygirl blew up
turned out before she grew up
some say it was the curve of her butt
some said it was the look in her eyes
she told men lies as she laid with them
she played with them, drugged
knowing nothing of love

He was a friend of mine, killed before his time
now my man ain't standin'
all over a misunderstanding
too many times the story repeats
stop using your heat on the streets
man-up and fight if you beast
and that goes twice for quick to shoot police
THAT GOES TWICE FOR QUICK TO SHOOT POLICE
they leave young men deceased
my peeps wasn't even holding piece
geeeeez

Its a tragedy up on these streets
a tragedy up on these streets
we just tryna live in peace
its a tragedy up on these streets
a tragedy on these streets
we just tryna live in peace
I pray I see the day they take all your guns away
all your guns away
I pray I see the day they take all your guns away
all your guns away
it's a tragedy
It's a tragedy up on these streets
tragedy up on these streets
We just wanna live in peace
